Getting the insurance they promised!?

ok this is what happen i went to wal-mart on my birthday and bought a ipod nano touch (the newest one) and they said that apple had given me a free insurance for a year so mouths past (not the year though) and the button to unlock gets jam leaving me unable to turn it on so i went to wal-mart to get the insurance they said apple had given me and they told me to talk to apple and they would send me my new one but idk how to do that can you help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
