Is my hair texture normal?

Ok I have curly hair when my hair is wet and when I throw it in a pony tail it gets wavy at the top but curly at the bottom but my hairline and sideburns are completly straight... So is the normal and if I was to cut all my hair off low would it be tha hair texture on my head be the same texture that my sideburns is ???
